A Message From The Chief

Welcome to the Holly Grove Fire Department web site.  The purpose of this site is to provide the citizens of the community and prospective members with information about the fire department and to keep our members informed of activities and important dates.  We are a volunteer department with approximately forty members.  We supplement the volunteer response with part-time coverage Monday through Fridays.  Our department has a strong interest in public education and fire prevention.  We have a Junior Firefighter program and a Ladies Auxiliary.  The Holly Grove Fire Department covers a response area of nearly 17 square miles.  The population served is approximately 4,000.  The jurisdiction is mostly residential with a small concentration of commercial and industrial structures and a wild land interface.  We also cover eight miles of interstate 85.  We currently do not provide EMS response.  Our call volume is ever increasing with approximately 300 runs per year, mostly vehicle related. The majority of those responses to I-85.  We respond four apparatus from one station. The complement includes; a 2007 Spartan/Toyne, a 1998 Spartan/Quality, a 1986 Grumman and a 2000 Brush unit.  We are always in need of volunteers in all areas of the department.  If you are interested in giving back to the community but are not sure about firefighting there are many areas in which you can volunteer including Ladies Auxiliary, Fire Prevention, Public Education, Public Relations and Administration.  Please feel free to drop by and pay a visit.

I can think of no more stirring symbol of man's humanity to man than a fire engine.  ~Kurt Vonnegut

When a man becomes a fireman his greatest act of bravery has been accomplished.  What he does after that is all in the line of work.  ~Edward F. Croker
